Official Street Scene Lineup 2007: First acts confirmed

June 18, 2007 - 12:45 am

killers.jpgWithout further ado. Expect more acts to be announced. Because as it stands now, ain’t a pure headliner among the bunch. Personally, I think that’s just fine, even if the bottom line suffers. Bumbershoot does it that way, Noise Pop does it that way. But I doubt Live Nation will watch Austin City Limits pull in Dylan, White Stripes and Bjork and Lollapalooza hop in bed with Pearl Jam and Daft Punk and not try for something bigger. Especially since Lolla and ACL are run by Live Nation’s competitor, Austin-based C3 Presents. And is it just this old post we wrote, or does it seem like there’s a whitening of Street Scene to go with Del Mar’s demographics (read: lotsa white folk)?

not to sure about this 2007 line-up. not much diversity here. comparing it to previous years. maybe because of the relocation to haole del mar….

the killers? in my opinion, not a strong headliner…there is a handful of bands i wouldn’t mind seeing. arctic monkeys would be kool…..bottomline…street scene going downhill since the move from qualcom to del mar

totally agree, satisfied wth the line up, but not happy…just because what street scene has to offer. as far as, beer tents, carnival, games, rave tents, code reds,……i may go last minute…..but previous years, i agree has been better

very disapointing line-up – killers should not be the main headliner…

wow!! every year street scene has changed for the worst…..the venue, frat boys along with the sorority girls….it has lost it’s charm….it was one of the many things that set san diego apart from other cities in southern cali………..
this year’s “first confirmed” line up….proves the downhill from here

Move from Qualcom to Del Mar makes sense. The way the grounds are set at Del Mar will make for a MUCH better experience. I like the line up but i too think there are a few more bands to be announced. Got a feeling there will be more hip hop / djs announced soon. Don’t under estimate The Killers draw. If they weren’t playing on Street Scene they would be playing SD Sports Arena. They are a proper headling act.

That new Ozomotli song they are playing on 94.9 is super duper stupid. I can guarantee that no one is requesting that song, so I’m curious why they keep playing it.

Slightly Stupid and G Love are equally retarded, hopefully these three bands are the ones who are playing at the same times as the cool bands (i.e. ClapYHSY, Cold War, Muse, Artic, Louie, Matt Costas, Supersuckers, and Elvis Perkins).

Social D and The Killers are mediocre. I’d much rather hit the Punk Rock Karaoke stage with Greg Heston and Eric Melvin than hear Social D play a bunch of re-makes. (It bums me out that radio never plays Johnny Cash – Ring of Fire, but will play Social D’s version bi-hourly.)

Panic at the Disco is a piece of emo garbage.

This show better be cheaper than the 94.9 Independence Jam, because the quality seems lower and the venue is crap.

Any word on the local acts?

where’s the hip hop? no diversity in the first confirmed line-up. i would not be surprised if street scene did not have any true hip hop artist on the bill……why? del mar fairgrounds……where there’s white…there’s fright…in terms of liability, covering the assess, no fun and believing hip hop is the root of violence in concerts….they might as well have brittney spears headline night 2…..i am willing to put money down to the possibilty of an all white artist line-up…..

i was just looking at austin city limits festival line-up and street scene has a handful of those acts confirmed to play……hopefully they’ll get alot more of them too….as well as local acts. the move does make sense…del mar is an ideal place. better than petco and qualcomm…….but good luck to goers finding a place to stay….it was impossible finding a place in san diego…….how much more in del mar……..and i agree with frances in regards to an all “white” line-up……i wouldn’t be surprised if the blackest street scene got was to get beasties or mos def or jay z to headline

whoa? that has to be the weakest line up in street scene history. plus the $120.00 weekend tickets? with that kind of lineup, i don’t think the other services that street scene has to offer is even worth going….guess i’ll wait for next year

The line is garbage execpt for a few (clap YHSY, Muse, Cold War Kids)…….I should of stayed in Atlanta! At least out there I could of seen The Nightwatchman, Fiest & Grizzly Bear! Why does the venue keep getting farther & father away from Gaslamp? Del Mar? You gotta be fucking kidding me! Hip Hop? They have Gym Class Hereos (who were at the county fair last week) and Too Short? WTF???? Go to Rock The Bells & SoCo Music Experience….One’s all hip hop and the other one’s free! Fuck Street Scene!

Street Scene is dead. No diversity or major headliners. No reggae or hip hop. The price has skyrocketed. The groups worth seeing usally have cheeper show in SD throught the year anyway. I saving my money in hope of better shows coming to town. I recomend Rock the Bells for really hip hip fans, in fact people tired of the Rap (and its bling, bling, bi*** & hoes, drugs & violence) played out on the radio might what to consider check Rock the Bells out. Rap Music is cheep watered down imatation Hip Hop. Hip Hop is not on the radio.
