‘Like herding kittens’
Scott Lewis over at voiceofsandiego.org posted some thoughts about a lawsuit filed against City Attorney Mike Aguirre by a former female employee. The crux of the lawsuit is that Aguirre treated his female employees differently than the male employees—among other things, he frequently commented on women’s appearances (Scott has a funny one-line analysis of that aspect of the lawsuit). The complaint (you can download it from Scott’s piece) is pretty interesting (and by interesting I in no way mean salacious). Don’t pass judgment on Aguirre unless you read it.
Though, no one can bring up the words “Mike Aguirre” and “sexual harassment” without being reminded of this bit of news that we reported last year after local attorney Dan Coffey alleged that Aguirre:
“Conducts meetings with female attorneys while laying on the couch in his office, asking them to close the doors, and, in some instances, while lying on the couch, he gropes himself in the presence of female attorneys.
“At times, it is reported,” Coffey continued, “he causes women to pour water into his mouth as he lies on his couch. He makes them adjust their posture to his liking.”
Aguirre denied that any of this was true and so far, Coffey’s allegation remains just that—an allegation.

It should be noted that City Council President Scott Peters rightly told Coffey to sit down and shut the fuck up.
