Sanders to sign gay marriage letter
Mayor Jerry Sanders must have heard our pleas along with those of San Diego’s LGBT community. Yesterday the City Council voted to file an amicus brief supporting the gay couple trying to preserve their marriage in a San Francisco court. But before the vote even took place, Mayor Sanders’ spokesman told voiceofsandiego.org yesterday that he would veto the resolution. Scheduling the vote to override his veto would have forced the city to miss the deadline to file the letter. Now comes a mayoral press release saying Sanders will sign the resolution after all. The mayor will detail what the release called his “principled stand” at 5 p.m.
