By the hour no more

September 21, 2007 - 1:26 pm

The Sportsman’s Lodge, a ’60s-era motel on Rosecrans, has been given a swanky makeover (they’re calling it vintage-modern) and a new name, The Pearl. A friend and I were wandering around last night and popped in for a peek. Rooms are already available but the lounge/restaurant doesn’t officially open until the last weekend of September. What I’m looking forward to: an open-pool policy, Wednesday night “Dive-In” movies (like Esther Williams’ flicks) shown on an elevated screen and discounted rooms offered to folks who overindulge at the bar and need to crash in one of the mirrored-ceiling bedrooms.

I was there last night for a preview/tasting of the menu, which promises to be as wonderful as the stylish, laid-back environment.
