New blood in the water
This week, our esteemed stapled together mess of paper and words and ideas would like to welcome a new voice. Her name is Rosey, and she is now the scribe of “Locals Only.”
Rosey has spent the last six or seven or twelve or 40 years hanging around the local music scene. She goes to more shows in one week than most humans go to in a year. In fact, local music affcionados have probably already read her blog, SD Dialed In, on which she keeps a rapturously exhaustive minute-by-minute account of noisy goings on. That blog will not stop. It will merely join with “Locals Only” to form some sort of local music supernova that documents the scene without making it look like a boiling cesspool of in-fighting and overpuffed melodrama.
So, if you have San Diego music news to speak of, Rosey is your gal. Email her at localsonly@sdcitybeat.com.
And this is not the end of Bart Mendoza’s reign as knower of all stuff. After 229 issues of CityBeat (and 32 of SLAMM before that), he gracefully, yogi-like even, moved into a confidante/consultant/dial-a-friend lifeline for the column. Plus, he’s busy writing liner notes for obscure 1960s bands that more people should love, as well as touring Spain and other far off lands with his band, The Shambles.
Welcome, Rosey.

Welcome to our dysfunctional family, Rosey! I look forward to shaking booties with you in the near future!
