The Kinsee Report
Tonight, I’m going to Lips to get my drag-queen fix, then I’m heading over to SDSU for Sushi Performance & Visual Art’s season opener, Mockumentary, a performance piece involving dance, hip-hop, video, zombies and BMX bikes by a group called Locust.
Tomorrow, I’ll be working then going to a wedding — San Diego CityBeat contributer and poet laureate of the cosmos Michael Klam is marrying former CityBeat contributer and current San Diego Daily Transit staffer Jennifer Chung. I could be wrong about this, but I’m pretty sure CityBeat played a matchmaking role. I think the happy young couple met through this story about Anarchist Think Tank. Again, I could be wrong, but it’d be nice to think this little alt-weekly has altered a few lives, wouldn’t it?
Sunday, the Robert Irwin exhibition opens at downtown’s Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. The master of minimalism and art that tricks the eye has put together five new installations just for the museum, so I feel comfortable and safe — although somewhat PR-ish — saying this is a show that just shouldn’t be missed.
