Just stop it, Juliette

If I hear 10 News reporter Juliette Vara say something is “burned to a crisp” one more time, I’m going to stab myself through both ears with an ice pick.

I like when people talk about the fire and say that “it spread like wildfire” or that things just went “up in smoke.”
Last night, I decided to drink a shot of Laird’s Applejack every time somebody on TV said the word “basically.” I had to stop after the fire chief from Pauma said “basically” six times in five minutes. Why does everybody in San Diego constantly say
“basically?” Basically, it’s annoying.
By the way, excellent work putting together so much good coverage in such a short amount of time, Dave.
I’d personally like to be spared Stan Miller’s comments about how helpful “local churches” have been through all this… how you can “donate to your local church” to best help out, and don’t forget suggestions for evacuees to “stop into your local church” for shelter. Thanks for praying for all of us too, Stan.
Also, is it just me, or is it more than a little interesting that almost all local newscasters seem to live in way-outlying countrified suburbs? They were all commiserating about being evacuated and sharing stories with one another…. no one must live in San Diego proper.
No, if they did, they’d be too close to us riffraff.
