City Attorney candidates come out punching in first debate

The five candidates for City Attorney job lined up today to take jabs at Mike Aguirre for about an hour at a luncheon-debate sponsored by the business-oriented Lincoln Club. Candidates were carefully arranged on the dais: On the left sat City Council President Scott Peters, next to colleague City Councilmember Brian Maienschein. A table separated those two from City Attorney Mike Aguirre, who sat slumped through much of the debate, and his former employee and current legal antagonist Amy Lepine. One table to the right of them, on his own, sat judge-on-leave Jan Goldsmith. I recorded all but the first question of the debate (I lost the beginning to technical troubles) for anyone who cares to download the audio file and listen to it. Also, my apologies for my hurried intro on the recording. The debate was held at the Doubletree Hotel in Mission Valley, not at the Lincoln Club.
