It’s been a number of years, but Metallica and conductor Michael Kamen played a few gigs together with the San Francisco Symphony, back in, like, the previous millennium (AKA 1999). I didn’t see the show, but it sounded terrific, with Metallica wailing away on “Ride the Lightning” and “Sanitarium,” accompanied by string sections, horns, the whole nine yards.
