Breaking news: Coffee shops are the new pick-up spot
This press release, from some deodorant company, amuses me immensely on so many levels.
Looking for Girls in All the Wrong Places
Survey of San Diego Women Unveils Humbling Truth – ‘America’s Finest’ Guys are Clueless
The survey was conducted to introduce AXE Bullet, the first pocket-sized deodorant bodyspray that allows guys to act fast and seize unexpected hook-up opportunities – whether they’re hanging at Pacific Beach or chilling at a Padres game. Findings Include:
Looking for girls in all the wrong places
· Only 14 percent of San Diego girls met the last guy they dated at a bar.
· 31 percent would be embarrassed to tell their families they’re dating a guy they met at a bar.
· When asked where guys should go to meet nice, single girls, San Diego girls are more likely than girls in other parts of the country to recommend a coffee shop at 65 percent. That’s compared to only 52 percent in Chicago and 48 percent in Houston.
When opportunity knocks, act fast
· More than nine out of 10 San Diego girls (91 percent) admit they’ve seen cute guys while going about their everyday routines who they wished would make a move and talk to them.
· 51 percent of girls said that summer is the season when they have the most carefree, fun and romantic flings. Opt for a day at the beach or a trip to the San Diego Zoo to make the most of these moments.
It’s all in the approach
· Give it a shot! When being approached by a guy, the majority of girls (72 percent) said a guy’s approach style (i.e. confidence, wit and humor) matters most. Only 15 percent said that looks are important and only 13 percent are influenced by time and place.
· When asked about the most unexpected places they’ve been hit on by a guy (and it worked), San Diego girls revealed 65 different locations, including Disneyland and a trolley station. On a slightly more traditional level, try the Wavehouse or the Borders in Mission Valley, where you are sure to encounter other wandering eyes.
Girls agree: guys just don’t get it
· Only 11 percent think guys often “get it” when a girl tries to let him know she’s interested.
· How do guys really blow opportunities with girls? Forty-eight percent of girls said by coming across like a player, while over one-third (35 percent) said by not doing or saying anything.
Bad luck with the ladies? If it’s not your M.O., it could be your B.O.
· Almost 9 out of 10 San Diego girls (86 percent) would turn a guy down because he smelled bad. No excuses, guys; be prepared with AXE Bullet!
