Ultimate pop-culture binge day
So, I’m going on a pop-culture binge today. This morning, after dropping my daughter at pre-school, I swung by Target to pick up a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV, which comes out today and which is expected to sell something like six million copies this week. Say what you want about videogames (I’m talking to you, Kelly Davis) and the Grand Theft Auto franchise in general, but at $60 a pop, that would make for the greatest opening of any entertainment product, ever. The game has gotten ridiculously good reviews. In fact, while I was at Target, I ran into three other guys buying the same thing. They were all in their 20s or 30s, and many colors of the rainbows were represented. That’s cool.
So I’m going to explore this for a little while, and then tonight I’m taking in a press screening of Iron Man, which opens on Friday, kicking off the summer movie season. The studio behind Iron Man is fearful of GTA IV, because there’s such an intense audience crossover, and they’re hoping the fanboys don’t stay home and take a bite out of the opening weekend numbers by not showing up at the theater.
Between the two of them, I might just listen to Madonna’s new album, Hard Candy, or, more likely (and more in keeping with my own tastes, Rising Down from The Roots, both of which also come out today, just to have the pop-culture trifecta. And by this time tomorrow, I should have an idea of which is best time spent. Or wasted, as the case may be.

*sigh*
That’s all I have to say.
*sigh*
as soon as I get my copy, my avatar is gonna drive by your hood with my avatar homies and bust several caps in your avatar’s ass.
