Mr. Sanders goes to Washington
Both Red County San Diego and voiceofsandiego.org got around to writing about this lil’ mailer from mayoral candidate Steve Francis before we could. Actually, none of us here at CityBeat received it (which is odd)—though I got a call from a friend on Saturday who’d just pulled it out of her mailbox. She said it pushed her firmly into Sanders’ camp.
As voice’s Andy Donohue points out, Francis is a Republican who admits he voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004. Not sure who Sanders voted for, but I’ll ask.

So, what was the mayor doing hanging out with Bush? If the camera were to zoom out, you’d see that the two are at a large table, around which are sitting mayors from across the county and, as the president himself points out in this transcript, “mayors from both political parties.”
