My fave 15

June 26, 2008 - 1:36 pm

Yesterday, the U.S. Senate voted 80-15 to cut off debate of an overhaul of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act that would force a judge to dismiss dozens of pending civil lawsuits against the telecommunications companies that assisted the Bush administration’s warrantless wiretapping campaign.

So, here’s a shout out to the 15 senators who tried to stall this travesty:

Joe Biden (Delaware), Barbara Boxer (California), Sherrod Brown (Ohio), Maria Cantwell (Washington), Chris Dodd (Connecticut), Dick Durbin (Illinois), Russ Feingold (Wisconsin), Tom Harkin (Iowa), John Kerry (Massachusetts), Frank Lautenberg (New Jersey), Patrick Leahy (Vermont), Robert Menendez (New Jersey), Bernie Sanders (Vermont), Chuck Schumer (New York) and Ron Wyden (Oregon).

Hmm. I don’t see Feinstein’s name in there.

mindbomber, it should come as no surprise that Senator Feinstein’s name is not on that list. She’s been moving towards the Republican party since she was elected as a Democrat, she’s a supporter of the USA Patriot Act, she wants a flag desecration amendment and she voted to give public money to churches. If voters ever paid attention to the issues and how their elected politicians have been voting, we wouldn’t have the people in office that we have today. Instead, the voters vote for the familiar every time.
