Phillip Rivers gives 10-large to Prop. 4

October 30, 2008 - 2:17 pm

If you were looking for yet another reason to think the Chargers are lame, here comes this from the Prop. 4 campaign:

Phillip Rivers, starting quarterback for the San Diego Chargers, contributes $10,000 to Yes on Prop 4 Campaign, confirmed Charles Gallagher, Campaign Manager and Chief Strategist for Yes on 4.

“Phillip Rivers is a class act and true leader on and off the field.  His support has energized the Yes on 4 Campaign as we approach victory on election day,” Gallagher stated.

“Our message about the health and safety of teenage girls is resonating with pro-choice and pro-life voters.  The cross appeal for Yes on 4 is supported by recent polling which shows Democrat support the strongest it has been in over two years.”

“This is not a red state versus blue state issue, states like Massachussetts and Delaware have this law.  Our mainstream message is focused on parental notification, a successful law already on the books in over thirty states.  I believe Proposition 4 may be one of the few statewide initiatives to win next Tuesday,” Gallagher said.

Prop. 4 has nothing to do with the “health and safety of teenage girls”; it has everything to do with the religious right’s attempts to chip away at abortion rights. Since they can’t go after adult women, they’ve targeted minors. If anything, Prop. 4 endangers the health and safety of girls who don’t have supportive parents.. And don’t give us that bull about the initiative containing safeguards for those girls who are afraid of their parents. Have you read the proposition? Have you seen the process such girls would have to go through to avoid telling their parents?

Screw you, Phillip Rivers, and the religious-right covered wagon you rode in on.

Word up. Perhaps if Rivers worried a little bit more about his passing or how his team is falling apart, and less on a choice that he himself will never have to make, then the Chargers wouldn’t suck ass as much as they do. What a dipshit!

Seth says it all. Anther crap performance by Rivers today. Good to know that he has been focusing on limiting choice for young women during this season… Just like his teammate Jacques Cesaire contributed to Prop 8, the Chargers seem to be focusing on all sorts of things this year. Except, or course, playing to their potential and winning football games.
