San Diego Shows – Monday November 3

On election eve their ain’t a whole lot going on in the Dego tonight but their’s definitely one show that is worth yout while if you’re done filling out your voter sample pamphlets:

PLAN A: Tartufi @ Bar Pink. These San Francisco darlings transform the mundane tendencies of today’s indie rock, stretching experimentation to its extremes while still making listenable music. -Todd Kroviak

Once they wrap up, you can’t go wrong at U-31 to catch the last songs by Lady Dottie and the Diamonds.

And for nostalgia, I’d personally be interested in checking out Maxwell at the House of Blues. If you don’t remember Maxwell, he was the late ’90s R&B crooner, who, along with D’Angelo, supposedly represented the new-guard of neo-soul or whatever. But I must say, I had more sex to Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite my freshman year in college more than any other record. Check out “Til the Cops Come Knockin” if you don’t believe me. As my roomate put it, that’s some “panty-droppin, boot-knockin music!” For a brief time, this dude was the future of R&B, and I’m curious to see if he’s still got it. Either way, if you need somewhere to take a date tonight (albeit a third date), it’d be a good one.

Here’s some other noteworthy shows tonight

‘A Voting Pre-Party’ featuring HIaleah, Bedford Grove, The Roman Spring @ The Casbah

Beauty Bordello @ Beauty Bar

The Tighten Ups@ The Ruby Room

Open Mic hosted by Jimmie Lunsford @ Lestat’s

Electric Waste Band (Grateful Dead cover band)@ Winston’s
