Absentee votes still to be counted in close City Council races
I know I wrote earlier that Sherri Lightner and Marti Emerald had won their respective races. That was based on reading the County registrar’s website which said that they were winning with 100 percent of precincts reporting. But pollster John Nienstedt points out that there are 220,000 absentee and provisional ballots still to be counted in the county, and he calculates 15,000 of those votes are in District 7. Given the fact that Boling held an early lead because of mail-in ballots, and Emerald is only winning by 700 votes, District 7 is still not clear. Lightner’s 2,300 vote lead seems safer. Nienstedt has posted an absentee vote calculator for District 7 for anyone who wants to follow along.
