City Council delays vote on president
The City Council forestalled some acrimony among its members today by postponing the selection of a new City Council president until four new City Council members are sworn in. The council-president vote will be the first item on the agenda on Dec. 8, and Councilmember Tony Young will preside over the meeting until a new council president is selected.
Earlier this month, councilmembers Donna Frye, Brian Maienschein and Kevin Faulconer sent a memo to the rest of the City Council insisting that a new president should not be selected until the new members are seated. All four of the councilmembers who aren’t terms out this year (Frye, Young, Faulconer and Ben Hueso) are known to be interested in the job, though Frye and Hueso are considered the front runners.
