PLAN A: Free Moral Agents, Ray Barbee Meets the Mattson Two, Illuminauts @ Beauty Bar. Ikey Owens from The Mars Volta flips even further out with his Long Beach-based groove project. And, apparently, he really likes Sublime’s 40 Oz. to Freedom. Don’t hold it against him. PLAN B: Black Ambulance, Dissolution, Man Destroys Himself @ Radio Room. They may have the requisite Cookie Monster vocals, blast-beats and atonal solos typical of most death metal, but I’ll be damned if Black Ambulance don’t surpass any act in town when it comes to stop-on-a-dime intensity. –Todd Kroviak
Music Video of the Day: Illuminauts–While you were listening to 2 step, drum and bass–or whatever the electro du jour was that day–on you discman, these Chula Vista cats were probably smoking an ounce and listening to Endtroducing on a loop. And I’m happy they did.
