According to the California Secretary of State, San Diego City Councilmember Ben Hueso’s filed papers to run for state Assembly, District 79. Hueso was elected to the City Council in 2006 and became City Council president in December.

Also on the list for the 2010 primary: former City Councilmember Toni Atkins (for District 76, currently held by Lori Saldana) and state Sen. Christine Kehoe (also for the 76th). That’s a bit of a head-scratcher, since Kehoe was termed out of the Assembly, right? Well check on it and follow-up.

Ohmigod, is it any wonder the California State Legislature enjoys rock-bottom ratings among constituents? This is the perfect lineup, excepting Lori Saldana whom I admire as a politically “green” person. Hueso, Atkins, Kehoe? Incompetent hacks best illustrating the Peter Principle and the ruder Circle Jerk. Every one of them needs to get real work.

OMG, this guy is brain dead. He is an embarassment to the City, his district, Labor unions, and more. Plus, his brother is a scammer, working to depreve mentally retarded people of their homes, as a recent Don bader article noted.

I have heard there will be better candidates running for these seats. Better for the environment, better for the working man, better for education candidates. Keep your eyes open JJ the community is tired of people like Hueso who leave one seat to take another before they ever even accomplish a thing. Hueso should receive a lot of criticism, ( rightfully so ) for his decision to bail out his post as council president. I also have a feeling he will be getting a lot of flak from members of the current council for this as well. If you were a business owner would you promote a guy who just started his last job and already wants to bail out on that job? I have a feeling the voters are not going to appreciate this kind of behavior either.

TonyMay 3rd, 2009The reason why BD Howard was not invited is a personal grudge that Lorena has against Mr Howard. A few of us were watching a ballgame in a local watering hole when a very intoxicated Don Bradford(Lorena Gonzalez’ hubby) began complaining about Lorena. He was obviously quite upset with her. Mr Howard wanting to change the subject asked Mr Bradford how their daughter was doing. This for some unknown reason upset Mr. Bradford and he began choking Mr.Howard. So maybe now we know where the roots of this feud began. Considering her being behind the police report leaks against Mr Howard and Mr Tony Young is it really that big of a surprise they didn’t show up.

Agreed, time for new blood with no political or special interest ties. I believe Brittany Catton has thrown her hat into the ring and is such a person.

I would agree. Brittany Catton is a great candidate! Time to consider someone with a fresh perspective!
