Sherri Lightner nominates show-tunes crooner to Port Commission
San Diego City Councilmember Sherri Lightner has announced that she has nominated security-device mogul Marshall Merrifield to fill the departing Laurie Black’s spot on the Port Commission.
CityBeat readers might recall that Merrifield was the guy who serendaded me with show tunes when he learned of my theater background while Eric Wolff, John Lamb and I chatted with him over margaritas in a University City Mexican restaurant last spring.
Oh, and some San Diegans might remember him as a candidate for the District 1 City Council seat that Lightner ended up winning last fall—which was the reason we were chatting with him over margaritas in a University City Mexican restaurant last spring.
If effervescence and shamelessness is what you want in a port commissioner, Merrifield is your man for the job.
