Sanders and Faulconer ask CCDC to review short-term costs for staying in current city hall
In my story this week, I mentioned that City Councilmember Kevin Faulconer and Mayor Jerry Sanders would ask the Centre City Development Corporate to evaluate the short term costs of staying in the current city hall. The memo was sent today. Here’s a copy (PDF), for the interested. Sanders told me he hoped the study could be completed in a matter of weeks.
The memo points out that an earlier study (PDF) of maintenance cots by the engineering firm DMJM considered the costs incurred in keeping the current civic complex running for 30 years, but not costs for keeping the building running for five to 10 years. In earlier analyses, financial firms Ernst & Young and Jones Lang LaSalle have found that keeping the building going for more than 10 years would be prohibitively expensive.
