CityBeat’s looking for music and arts writers
San Diego CityBeat, this town’s most bitchin’ newsweekly, is on the hunt for fresh voices to write, on a freelance basis, about music and arts (visual arts, performance art, multimedia, dance, the club scene, cultural trends, etc.).
We’re seeking people who can’t get enough of the artistic side of life in San Diego. Do you go out all the time and soak up as much culture as can fit comfortably inside of you? Do you have the websites of San Diego’s most vibrant arts and performance organizations bookmarked on your Internet browser? Or do you find yourself frequenting places like Soda Bar, Bar Pink, Belly Up and Che CafĂ©? And can you write in an engaging, narrative manner? Then we want to hear from you, pronto.
Send writing samples and cover letters detailing how obsessed you are with music and/or arts to sethc@sdcitybeat.com. Don’t have writing samples that feel appropriate for this query? Then, by all means, go out and review a band and write it up. Go to an art opening and write about the experience. Talk people up on the Casbah’s smoking patio and dish. Tell us something we don’t know about some upcoming cutting-edge event. We’re looking forward to hearing from you.
