What a waste of our tax dollars. Good grief, SD law enforcement are an embarrassment to any thinking person.

Too bad the crooks with a vested interest in the present system can enlist the support of the mindless religious right and prevent a pragmatic approach to pot use.

What a county, what a country, the sooner the religious whack jobs are relegated to the political dustbin the better for civilized society.

In your dream... you said: Telling a police officer “it’s none of your business” is being unlawful and uncooperative!

That's bullshit. I just read the GUIDELINES FOR THE SECURITY AND NON-DIVERSION OF MARIJUANA GROWN FOR MEDICAL USE (August 2008), and nowhere in there does it mention disclosure of the patient's medical condition to any law enforcement officer is required. Do you see the word "disclosure" anywhere in the doc you linked? I didn't.

For starters, HIPPA rules and doctor-patient confidentiality would trump. Secondly, unless you're under oath (perjury), or unless the nice officer has a warrant signed by a judge, you don't have to answer any questions that you don't want to. Period.

I suggest you read the documents you're linking before telling others what they tell you you "have to" do.

spoken like a true ruthless greedy businessman.

At least you're honest and willing to admit it. lol

MOST patients have a hard time coming up with $120 for a rec but that's just insurance for the year so it's worth it (get out of jail free card, remember monopoly? lol).

Way cheaper then a lawyer should the need arise.

Your the one who is sick if you think patients should pay anywhere near $60/1/8 th. You do realize they have other health bills on top of that.

As far as tax, you're really just selling for $55/ 1/8 th which is pretty much just as bad as $60.

You don't eat nothin, you profit.

inflorescence that's all you can gather from the situation?.."ruthless businessmen" preying on "lazy stoners"?..you're a genius!..i never saw any lazy stoners in the co-op..anybody that goes to a doctor to get their doctor's recommendation for medical MJ is not lazy and if they can afford $120 for an appointment they can probably afford $60 for an 1/8 of meds..also, there were meds from $35-60 an 1/8 so the choice is left with the patient..i can't speak for other co-ops but where i worked the $60 was well worth it..considering the fact the patient can choose from a wide variety of meds, in a safe environment, patients never complained and were happy to pay $60..also considering the overhead and risk associated with the business, as well as the sales tax that our co-op ate on every purchase, a small added charge should be expected and paid gladly..

more ignorance..yes we actually thought if we ran things by the book we would be ok..it's not naive to believe that san diego could fall in line with other cities in the state..it's about to be 2010..if this was oakland or LA we wouldn't have had these problems..this is an example of why people laugh at san diego politics..san diego is stuck in its right wing conservative philosophies..the city could regulate co-ops and draft ordinances and impose a 2% city tax as oakland does, and charge 30k a year for business licenses, making co-ops a productive part of the city economy..marijuana is not going anywhere..it will never be eradicated off the face of the earth..maybe the city government would rather keep marijuana in the hands of the cartels and other criminals..they would rather kick and stomp and drag their feet, spend money they don't have on prosecution and oppose the state laws because they can't think outside the box..it's like a bunch of spoiled children that don't want to turn off sponge bob and do their homework..it's cool i understand there are still people who believe the earth is 5000 years old..the US is not the empire we used to be..unless we can think in new ways and get creative, we will succumb to the other nations who are licking their chops waiting for us to fall..this issue is bigger than me and the co-ops..this is a demonstration of the contradictions and hypocrisies of our goverment, which will eventually lead to our downfall..obviously neither inflorescence nor marc are exposed to marijuana..there were alot of good, honest people both working at the co-ops and receiving medicine as well..there were alot of jobs created by the co-ops and families being fed..you both probably think marijuana is the devil and that everyone involved is just a bunch of lazy hippies that sit around and smoke all day..lol you guys are too much..

there's a lot of misinformation going around on this issue..let me clear the air and bring real facts to this discussion because it truly saddens me when i see how uninformed the public is!..first point i'd like to make is that the DA is not making the distinction between revenue and profit..of course there's going to be revenue coming from medical MJ sales..there's a big difference between revenue and profit..there is plenty of overhead associated with any business..a collective/co-op is no different..what's not being talked about is the sales tax that's generated by this revenue..sales tax can be paid on a quarterly basis..the collective i was associated with had already paid their last quarter sales tax..the raids came before the deadline for the next quarter..then they seize money and meds in an effort to show an accumulation of profit, when it was nothing more than an accumulation of revenue..our collective didn't have an opportunity to pay the next quarter's sales tax because now all the money has been seized!..for her (dumanis) to say that all the collectives are operating for profit just isn't true..why would people set up a collective/co-op, already knowing they're involved in a controversial business, and blatantly break laws and act as a drug-dealing 7/11 for profit?..i know you people don't really buy this argument..that would be suicide!..i can understand legal action if, after a period of a year or so, the sales tax numbers didn't add up..but most of the collectives/co-ops had only been open a few months..i was one of the people who sat in jail over this..they sent in undercover cops (who lied to a doctor to get a recommendation) the day after they lost the supreme court case..these undercover cops came in and filled out all the legal paperwork to join the collective, bought meds and left, then came back again in a month to buy, and built their case from there, not alleging that protocol wasn't followed, rather stating simply that there was medical MJ being sold (which is against federal law)..for state cops to conduct a sting in this manner when the collective/co-op was following the state guidelines is beyond my comprehension..it's not as if the police asked to see legal paperwork and arrested people after this request was not met..they acted pro-actively as if every collective/co-op was in violation of the law before giving due process..for everyone leaving comments on here like they know what they're talking about, you are truly ignorant..it is the mark of a truly unintelligent person to speak on an issue like you know what you're talking about when you are not informed on the facts..that's the same way the DA and the other authorities involved in this case talk about the collectives/co-ops..they came and raided, they did not give 48hrs advance to produce paperwork..we wish this would have happened we would have been more than happy to show our legal documents, including our articles of incorporation with the secretary of state showing our non-profit status..we would have welcomed them in with welcome arms just to get the opportunity to show our compliance..this was a politically-motivated strong arm raid..why would the city spend tax payer money putting people in jail who were following the state guidelines, only, in effect, putting that marijuana back on the streets, in the hands of the actual drug dealers?..and now the sales tax from medical MJ goes out the window..for the DEA to get invloved after the President's and attorney general's comments is truly un-American..give the citizens the opportunity to show their compliance with the laws before throwing them in jail..isn't the mantra of our legal system "innocent until proven guilty"?..and what about "to protect and serve"?..i see that painted on every police car in the city, but the citizens rights were neither protected nor served!..every American should be concerned about this type of behavior from law enforcment!..this is an outrage!!!!!!!!!!1
