Goodbye Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Raphael & Donatello
Cowabunghole! 4Kids Entertainment, a child entertainment toy company with a trading card branch in San Diego, just unloaded its merchandising agreement for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brand.
4Kids picked up $9.75 million for letting go of the rights to Nickelodeon, plus a share of the royalties through June 2010 and the company expects another $1 million in escrow fees.
“4Kids will also continue to air the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles television episodes that it co-produced… on the CW Network through the end of the 2009-2010 broadcast season,” 4kids chairman and CEO Alfred R. Kahn said in the press release filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

So who bought the rights?
If ever a story idea was first uttered over pizza & beer, it had to be “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”
Nickelodeon…I forgot to put that in there. Post amended.
