Porn vs. Pirates

Man, I love federal court filings…

Today, we’ve got the company that printed Perfect 10, a men’s softcore magazine specializing in un-augmented women, suing the Swiss file-hosting site, Rapidshare.com, for copyright infringement to the tune of $5 million.

Here’s the complaint filed by San Diego law firm Krause, Kalfayan, Benink and Slavens in U.S. Southern District Court of California. It’s not quite boobs and ass, but still quite titillating.

So, Perfect 10 Inc. claims it had to shut down the publication in 2007 because of “rampant infringement,” i.e. people stealing their smut and posting it online for free. The company now operates Perfect10.com, which includes video and images and props up the rest of its business—and it says copyright infringement threatens its existence.

In addition to “billions of dollars in songs and major full length movies, featuring every major artist and every major movie,” Perfect 10 claims Rapidshare is giving out for free 26,000 Perfect 10 images as well as DVDs, including their “Model of the Year” video, which cost about $1 million to make (wow!).

And in case you didn’t know where to download these pirated files, Perfect 10 is nice enough to provide some links in its brief:
