Green Kross Collective administrator pleads guilty

December 10, 2009 - 5:54 pm

At the beginning of the month, the medical cannabis community scored a major victory when a jury acquitted Jovan Jackson of Answerdam Alternative Care of all criminal cannabis-related charges.

Today, it’s the movement’s turn to take a hit. Joseph Nunes, the operator administrator of Green Kross Collective and Downtown Kush Lounge Cooperative inĀ  San Diego, pleaded guilty to federal charges of manufacturing marijuana plants, renting two drug related premises and money laundering. The weird thing is that it seems by money-laundering, the US Attorney’s office means he used collective proceeds to pay for rent on the collectives. There doesn’t seem to be any indication he sold marijuana to non-patients.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 22.

We’ve emailed Nunes for comment. Press release from the pleased-as-punch US Attorney’s office here.
