Fabiani doesn’t want to debate Aguirre

Just got this perfectly useless statement from Mark Fabiani, special counsel to the San Diego Chargers football club, in response to a news conference former City Attorney Mike Aguirre just held, during which he made some critical comments about the Chargers’ proposal to cite a new stadium Downtown:
Mike Aguirre is San Diego’s political bad penny – turning up again even after 60 percent of voters tossed him out of office. There is simply no reason to dignify Mr. Aguirre’s rants and raves or say anything to assist his desperate grabs for public attention.
I’ll try to post something a bit later on what Aguirre actually said.

David, could you do a story on Fabiani? It would be good for the people of San Diego to know about what he’s done in the past…so they can judge whether he’s got a reputation for telling the truth.
I watched Aguirre deliver his calm, lawyerly, analytical comments on camera at KUSI. The newsperson then read the exact Fabiani comment you printed above. The sequence provided the perfect contrast and dichotomy between Fabiani’s hyperreality and Aguirre’s grounded reality.
Aguirre won one election and still had the support of 40% after a relentless attack by the U-T and the good ole boys including the mayor. Fabiani doesn’t want to put the stadium to a vote but thinks he can dismiss the significant portion of the population that aren’t necessarily Charger groupies.
Tell me how many votes did Mark Fabiani get that he can shoot his mouth off about forty percent?
