San Diego Shows–Thursday, Dec. 24
PLAN A: ASSS, Wampire, D/Wolves @ Soda Bar. I guess all the ice storms and scenesters made every Portland musician head south for the winter (see yesterday’s post). But, seriously, fellow Oregonians ASSS need to be seen to be believed. Made up primarily of two members rotating instruments, they play a heavily syncopated, trancey noise-rock that would probably make baby Jesus cry (check out video below for a taste). PLAN B: Exile on Kettner Blvd @ The Casbah. Because watching a who’s-who of local musicians belt out Rolling Stones tunes beats the shit out of hanging with your redneck cousin (check out Mario Escovedo belting out “Brown Sugar” below).
