Silver (Strand) lining: MTS approves bus cuts, saves the Sunday #901

The Metropolitan Transit System board approved $7 million in bus route cuts yesterday. That’s a bummer with a silver lining, indeed: MTS saved the Sunday #901, a route serving the Silver Strand and Coronado (I wrote about it a couple weeks ago). The bus’ frequency was reduced from every 30 minutes to once an hour and its hours changed from 5:00am-2:30am to 6:00am-8:00pm , but that’s still better than complete elimination for the service industry workers, foreign tourists and military personnel who rely on the route.
The same can’t be said for the #923 bus that connects a Point Loma hostel to the airport. That Sunday service will be discontinued.
MTS has a page online detailing and charting all the changes, which take effect on February 28.

The one that’s going to get me is the 11 not doing the Hillcrest/Adams route on Sundays. Really going to cut into my drinking!
