Saldana not running for Board of Supervisors
This afternoon, state Assemblymember Lori Saldana sent out an e-mail announcing that she’s decided not to run for a seat on the county Board of Supervisors. In the e-mail, Saldana attributes her decision to the unexpected death of her mom, who passed away on Dec. 31. She writes that after talking with her family this weekend, “I realized I simply cannot continue with my Board of Supervisors campaign this year.”
She says in the e-mail that she plans to run for state Senate in 2012. I left a message for Saldana earlier today but haven’t heard back.
I believe this leaves incumbent Ron Roberts running unchallenged (correct me if I’m wrong). And, of course, readers of CityBeat know that we’re waiting to find out if San Diego City Councilmember Donna Frye, who’s termed out in December, will decide to run.
