San Diego Shows–Tuesday, March 16
PLAN A: Past Lives, Heavy Hawaii, Nude Boy, Jungle Fever @ The Casbah. Post-punkers Past Lives is the other Blood Brothers offshoot. The good one. Sorry Jaguar Love. And I’m really digging the uppity lo-fi noise of local foursome Nude Boy (there’s a catchy tune under all that distortion if you listen carefully) as well as the sexy female pop-punk of Jungle Fever. BACKUP PLAN: Scott Amendola, Wil Blades @ Sushi Performing Arts. The two modern jazz greats will “conjure various sonic deities,” performing pieces from Duke Ellington’s “Far East Suite” and some original material.
OTHER COOL STUFF:
Shorts n’ Spirits Showcase @ West Coast Tavern. Mental Eclectic’s short-film showcase focuses on pieces taken from different web series: Pretty, Sex ED: The Series, Misadventures in Matchmaking, and Absolution, plus the local premiere of The Jeff Lewis 5-Minute Comedy Hour.
Dietrich, The Touchies, Starcrossed @ Tin Can Ale House.
Okay! Okay!, The Humans, One I Red, Game On @ Radio Room.
Brian Darnell, Way Cool Jr., Steve Ybarra @ Belly Up.
“Too Cool For Karaoke” @ Ruby Room.
“Darkwave Garden” @ Club Kadan.
“Friends Chill” game night @ Whistle Stop.
