Sempra’s donations to Feinstein
As I read today’s story in The San Diego Union-Tribune about U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein pressing the U.S. Forest Service to approve SDG&E’s controversial Sunrise Powerlink project, I wondered to what extent Sempra Energy, SDG&E’s parent company, had contributed to Feinstein’s campaigns throughout the years.
So, I went to Opensecrets.org to find out.
Sempra’s political action committee has contributed $20,000 to Feinstein’s campaigns since 2000. At an average of $2,000 a year, it’s not a ton of cash. But maybe it’s all in the way you look at it. During the same period, Sempra’s PAC has given Rep. Bob Filner’s campaigns $1,500. Filner opposes the Powerlink.
