Girls Club sues Channel 10
Girls Club of San Diego has filed a federal lawsuit against Channel 10 and the City of San Diego, alleging the defendants “falsely and with malice and animus carried out a series of malicious acts” against the non-profit youth organization in Logan Heights.
The suit, which is asking for more than $100 million in damages, also names several police officers, Wells Fargo Bank and “The Evening Tribune,” which, we presume must be the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Attorney Clifton D. Blevins, who also served as president of the organization, filed the suit, which alleges that, in 2009, the plaintiffs conspired to boot the non-profit from its premises through false reporting and police intimidation.
“In so doing the defendants accussed [sic] Plaintiffs of misuse of funding, holding parties in which criminal conduct occurred, abused children, among other things…” Blevins writes in the brief. “As a result of defendants, and each of them, are not able to enjoy their previous good reputations due to false TV showings, and false news paper articles published by defendants all with the purpose of causing harm and damage to the plaintiffs.”
Here are three of the articles that Channel 10 produced that are at the center of the controversy:
Embattled Girls Club In Need Of Help To Survive
Now, the 10News I-Team finds the Girls Club of San Diego is in trouble. It sits on city property, and the city wants to end its 50-year lease, which came up for renewal in 2008. The club’s lease for the land had been $50 a year.
Underage Drinking, Sex, Parties Alleged At Girl’s Club
For decades the Girl’s Club of San Diego has been regarded as a non-profit organization with a mission to teach young girls life skills, including cooking and etiquette. However, video obtained by the 10News I-Team paints a different picture.
“It’s the Girl’s Club being used as an after-hours nightclub,” said one witness.
City shuts down local girl’s club
The Girls Club of San Diego has been shut down and evicted from their building by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department after witnesses found remnants of an all-night party in the building, among other accusations.

D’OH! Ruh-roh Shaggy! Busted. The video showing the alleged after hours party can’t be shown.
I’m going to put on my Inspector Gadget het and say that this stinks to high Heaven against The Girl’s Club. Good luck Blevins. You’re going to need it.
