Scripps hosts entire conference debunking Fiorina
OK, so that’s a little bit of a misleading headline, but the fact remains:
- Republican candidate for US Senate Carly Fiorina is attacking Sen. Barbara Boxer because Boxer had the audacity to describe climate change as a national security issue.
- Scripps Institution of Oceanography is hosting an international symposium on national security and climate change.
Here’s Fiorina’s ad:
“Terrorism kills, and Barbara Boxer’s worried about the weather.”
The Pulitzer-prize winning journos at Politifact gave that spot a “Pants on Fire” rating on their lie-o-meter.
Meanwhile, today marked day one of Scripps’ Center for Environment and National Security’s International Symposium, titled: “Climate Change and National Security: Securing Better Forecasts.”
(Because, you know, terrorists kill, but so do famines, droughts, wars over natural resources. Plus, we’ve got ships that have to navigate, you know, the environment.)
