The Art San Diego Contemporary Art Fair rolled in and out of town and, by most accounts, was a success. Overheard at the fair:
“This is waaaay better than last year’s fair,” said by multiple people at the VIP opening night celebration.
“I’m seeing a lot of red dots,” said by my husband.
“There’s actually some really interesting art here,” said by a happily surprised San Diego artist and collector.
“So, couldn’t make the Art in the City conference, eh? It was good,” said by someone disappointed in me for going to a meeting with my banker and a doctor’s appointment that day instead.

If you’ve been to SRO lately (one of my favorite drag bars in town), you may have noticed a nearby store window filled with what could be considered art. And, in fact, it is art, brought to you by the good people of Bankers Block Collective, a new arts group in town. Friend ‘em on Facebook and keep tabs on what this group is doing.
- Today, the San Diego City Council officially proclaimed September as Arts Month San Diego.
- The Latino Film Festival put out a call for entries.
