San Diego Shows–Tuesday, Sept. 14
PLAN A: Little Teeth, The Paddle Boat, D/Wolves @ Che Café. San Francisco’s Little Teeth offer up a haphazard mess of folk instruments and whimsical vocal parts (plus something they call a “gonzo drum set”) that miraculously come together to sound delightful. PLAN B: Rob Crow, Family Tree Analog, Nothingful, Israel Putnam el Americano @ Soda Bar. Rob Crow takes a break from one of his many projects to fill a bill with a band that takes cues from Blonde Redhead (Family Tree Analog), a quirky acoustic bass player (Nothingful) and a maker of trippy soundscapes (Israel Putnam el Americano). BACKUP PLAN: The Night Marchers @ Bar Pink.
OTHER COOL STUFF:
Lord Howler, Brothers Collateral, Kuntz @ The Casbah. Lord Howler won Best Hard Rock in the San Diego Music Awards on Sunday night.
Tomcat Courtney @ La Gran Tapa. Tomcat, perhaps the hardest working octogenarian bluesman in San Diego, won Best Blues.
Nena Anderson / Brawley @ Riviera Supper Club.
Lauren O’Brien, Bucky McKinley (comedy), The Lee Coulter Band, Rob Deez @ Belly Up.
The Cult, Black Ryder @ 4th & B.
Burning Yellows @ Tin Can Ale House.
“Bike Love” w/ DJ Born @ Bluefoot.
Anthology House Band @ Anthology.
“Local Brews Local Grooves” w/ Broni, Chad Cavanaugh, Charlie Imes, Erin McLaughlin, Right Your Wrongs @ House of Blues.
