Pixies and the art of the album

Sunday at UCSD’s RIMAC Arena, the Pixies performed Doolittle, their 1989 album, from start to finish after warming up with a few b sides. (Here’s the full set list.)
It’s easy to forget the beauty of a well-structured album. And, if you’ve seen the Pixies the last couple times they were in town, Sunday’s performance was a whole different band—far more engaged with the audience and backed by well-choreographed video projections. ‘Twas a damn-fine show.
